Shoot and Edit–Week 4 Edit

So, I had a lot of fun editing this picture!  Smile

Ashley commented that I could crop out Michael in the background… and I thought that could work really well… so I did it.  Winking smile

Here’s the before, just to remind you:

And here’s the after:

Jan-30-EDIT-no-michael

I opened in Camera Raw, and adjusted it.

Jan30Stats

I cloned out Michael in the background.

I can’t remember all that I did (headsmack) but I know that I did use CoffeeShop’s Perfect Portrait.

I love how much it warmed Hannah up!  Open-mouthed smile  She looks like a real girl, now.  Winking smile

Here they are side by side:

I’m so thankful that Ashley and Jill came up with this idea… gotta love learning and trying new things!  Smile

I’m going to link up with You Capture, too… cause this week’s theme happens to be RED.  Smile

You Capture - Happy

Yay!  I've finally got a You Capture post!  :D  It feels like it's been a long time.

I have a few reasons to be happy.  ;)

My baby boy loves his baby sister.

a16

So does my biggest boy. :)

a17

This makes me so happy!! :D

a18

Why?

Because I am left-handed. My hubby is left-handed. And yet, our four oldest children are right-handed.

a19

Looks like #5 could break that mold! :D

This picture of our outdoor cat Flo makes me happy. I *love* how it turned out.

a21

And, last but not least.

This.

My cousin Kate and I just had a discussion on DSLR cameras, and I said I wasn't going to get anything until I could afford a 7D. Well... I found a really great deal on a Rebel T1i, and couldn't pass it up. So, I have officially entered the EOS digital world!! :D

(P.S. Any advice on what lens I should save up for next? It came with the kit lens and a EF 50mm 1.8 lens.)

So, there's my happy pics for this week.  For more warm and fuzzies, go to Beth's.

You Capture - Outside

This week's You Capture challenge was outside.

Well... there hasn't been a lot of me going outside lately.  ;)  That's what happens when our area is hit with three?  four?  or was it five? days of snow/blowing/roads closed/etc.

Here's a taste:

At times, we could barely see our barn.

The crappy weather did NOT stop the kids from playing outside, though.  ;)

Yes, that is a snow drift from the storm.  Yes, it is higher than our trampoline frame.

Yes, this is my son taking a dive off the edge on a sled.  ;)  And our dog is trying to eat him in the process.  :D  (Not really.  He's a knob that has to bark/chew at tires.. or anything that he thinks is going fast.)

I was outside.  Baby was inside.

So, there's my outside pics for this week.  And, in case you were wondering, our local roads are finally all open!  About time.

You Capture

This week's challenge was Hallowe'en... and silence.

First, we have Hallowe'en pics!  :D

Michael went as a knight.

Ethan was a samuri.  (Yes, that's his actual karate gi.)

Can you guess what Justin was?

A "leaf blower"!!  :D

One uncle (in the red hat) and 5 nephews/cousins.  Ready for football at our annual "Scary Party"!

Rebekah was a cowgirl.

But you know what the funniest part was?  Both Becky and her best friend/cousin Emma decided to be cowgirls... without discussing it with each other!  :D  And Emma's little sister Ava was the horse.  Too funny!

And, Hannah was a skunk.  She's definitely a "Little Stinker" so it worked perfectly!  :D

And now, for silence.  It kills me a little bit that both Beth (who hosts You Capture) and myself chose windmills for silence.  ;)  But, unlike Beth, I'm not a fan.  I think they're fine if they're away from people, but the ones we have around here are really close to farms and barns and houses.  Not cool in my books.

But, it makes for a pretty picture.

Head to Beth's for more!

You Capture - Autumn

This week's You Capture challenge was autumn.

I don't know about you, but we've been having some crappy weather lately.  Lots of (crazy!!) wind, rain, etc.  Not so great for taking pictures.

But!

I did get a few during the rare sunny breaks that happened.

This was yesterday.  Was it ever windy!!  Blew most of the leaves off the lawn... and stuck them to the fence.

a42

The corner of the fence.  Yay for not having to rake!  :D

a43

There was a massive storm cloud overhead... but clearing just as the sun was setting.  There was a lot of noise in this picture that I tried to smooth out... so it looks kinda funky.  :/  Remember I'm working with a Kodak P&S.  ;)  I'm still putting it in 'cause it was cool!

a44

The lighthouse.  I was standing on the beach below.

a45

I love this pic.  My hubby and my baby girl waiting patiently for me to take some pictures!  :)

a46

So that's my autumn pics for this week.

Check out some more at Beth's.

You Capture - Orange

I captured a few orange things this week.

I was going to take a few pictures of my pumpkins this morning... but my camera has died.  :(  Remember I dropped it a few months ago?  Well, today the lens won't extend at all.  Sigh.  I'm still hoping it'll revive.

On to my orange pics!

Beautiful leaves.

Does this count as orange?  I think it does.  ;)  There's orange in there.

So, that's all I have this week.  I'm sure there's other orange pics at Beth's, so go check them out!
