Shoot and Edit - Week 45 Edit

So, I just did a regular edit on my SOOC shot.  I cropped it to 8x10 size, cause I'm going to print this one off.  :)

FourKidsedit

But when I saw Ashley's tutorial, I wanted to share this one, too.

I totally do cloning.

A lot.

I swap heads all the time.  :D

So, here's the original:

Two kids on the right... looking good.  Two on the left... not so much.

Photo #2:

Two on the left... better.  Two on the right... fail.

So, I combined the two and got this:

Much better, right?

(I know there's space beside Michael that needs to be cropped out, but I haven't decided what size to print this one at, so left it alone for now.  ;)

So, if you've never done head-swapping/cloning, check out Ashley's tutorial.  It really does change a good picture to a great one.  :)  And, I'm going to totally try the mask technique - I usually just erase, but it sounds like there's more control with masking.  Me likey.  :D

Shoot and Edit - Week 45

Hey all!  :)

Today has actually been a sunny day - instead of all the rain/wet snow we've been getting.

So, I grabbed the kids and headed outside to try and take some pictures.

However... Hannah was grumpy.

So.

Instead of all five, I got this one that I really love:

FamilySOOC

Ethan can't smile to save his life.  :P

This is SOOC.  I don't think I'm going to do much to this one, I love it as is.  :)

Shoot and Edit - Week 42 Edit

Yes, I realize I didn't link up a SOOC shot.

But, when I read Michelle's tutorial on Ashley's blog, I knew I had to give it a try.  :)

So, here it is.  (Hover over photo for sooc shot.)

I'm loving this technique!  Thanks Michelle for a great tutorial.

Shoot and Edit - Week 39

The theme for Shoot and Edit this week is orange.

Here's the two pics that fit!

First, we have a Fuzzy Wuzzy.  No, really.  That's what they're called.  :D

Orange sooc - Fuzzy Wuzzy

And, I have a picture of an old train tracks snow plow.  It has sat here for as long as I can remember... and just took a picture of it on a whim.  It happens to be orange.  ;)

Orange sooc - Train snowplow

I'm gone camping for this last week of the camping season - we're actually in for a week of beautiful sunshine, and we're going to take advantage of it.  We have a beautiful new trailer to use, after all.  ;)  See you all when I get back!

Check out more orange shots at Jill's.

Shoot and Edit–Week 38 Edit

Hey everyone!

It’s been a frustrating day for me – I’ve realized that the hard drive on my desktop literally has about 3 GB of free space left on it… and so, it’s completely slow.  And annoying.  And now I’m going to have to purchase a bigger hard drive sooner than expected.  Sigh.

After waiting all day to get my three pictures edited… I have finally given up on my desktop and moved to my laptop.  Winking smile

So, here’s my edits for this week.

I decided to go with Nelly Nero’s Autumn Vintage for these shots – I like the cool, fall feel it gives them.

Mouse over to see the originals.

Leaves.  For this one, I ran AV, then I actually added the original file back on as a layer, and reduced opacity.  I wanted to keep some of the colour of the leaves.

Leaves-edit

And apples.  I did the same trick with the original picture as a layer.  This isn’t my favourite picture – I could have been more creative – but it is what it is.

Apples-edit

And finally, the praying mantis.  I used the action Vanilla Pop on this, and took out the fly.  I’m also linking up this Praying Mantis picture with show {off} your shot.  (And was I ever thrilled that my picture from last week was chosen as one of Rachel’s favourites! Open-mouthed smile )

and then, she {snapped}

So there’s my fall edits!

Shoot and Edit–Week 38

Is it possible?

Have I really missed 14 weeks of S&E??  Wow!  It really was a busy summer.  Winking smile

The theme this week is Fall, and there’s definitely evidence of that around here.

Here are my SOOC shots:

Sept-27-006---FALL-1

So many apples…

Sept-27-024---FALL-2

There was a brown one on the north side of my house, and a green one on the south side.  Open-mouthed smile

So, that’s a bit of what fall looks like right now.

Shoot and Edit - Week 24 Edit

It’s that time again!

Here are my edits for this week.  Hover over the picture to see the SOOC shot.

First, I opened in ACR, and adjusted.  Then I ran CoffeeShop’s Perfect Portrait 3.  I changed the B&W gradient layer to a Blue/red/yellow gradient, and reduced opacity to 6%.

Clean edit:

Then, I decided to play a little more with this one.  I ran Nelly Nero’s Chocolate Fade action.  (Below)  Then I ran PW’s B&W Beauty action, flattened image, and ran a little Vanilla Pop.  (Hover over Chocolate Fade to see the B&W.)  Which one is your favourite?

fathersedit2-2

Second one, just did my regular clean edit with the B/R/Y gradient.

Father's Day 2 edit

(I also ran Chocolate Fade on this one – you can see it here.)

And finally… my WHOLE family!  :D  Yes, all 38 of us… even me!

I adjusted in ACR, and then replaced the left side of people… from my mom over.  (My mom is the short one in the blue shirt. ;)  I then stole myself out of another picture, and added me in.  :D

That’s all folks!

Shoot and Edit–Week 24

This week’s theme is Father’s Day.

Here’s what I have…

Hubby and baby girl discussing a bird house.

And finally, my family.  37 of them.  (38 if you count me.  Winking smile )  I was taking this picture, so I’m not in it.  But I will be!  Open-mouthed smile

Shoot and Edit–Week 23 Edit

After a day with no internet, I’m happy to be back online!  Open-mouthed smile  Glad that my local internet service is quick and easy to deal with.  Smile

Here’s my swing/slide edits for this week.  Hover your mouse over the pic to see the SOOC.  (Well… if it worked.  It’s giving me grief.  Sigh.)

For this edit, I used CoffeeShop’s Perfect Portrait 3, and instead of using the B&W gradient layer, I changed it to the blue/red/yellow one and reduced opacity to 6%.

slide-edit

More PP# for this one!  Open-mouthed smile  And I did the same gradient trick, too.

slide2-edit

For this one, I ran Nelly Nero’s The Butterfly Effect action, adjusted slightly, and then put the original pic back on in a new layer, and reduced opacity.

swing1edit

Back to PP3, but this time I decided to try the Dodge/Burn layer that I’ve never used before!  Open-mouthed smile  I used it to darken Hannah’s shirt (it’s about the right colour now!) and also to darken both Hannah and Justin’s feet/legs.  Quite the handy thing!  Winking smile

swing2-edit

Now hopefully I’ll get some time to check out the other edit’s at Ashley’s, and you should too!  Smile
